Thank you Betty for gifting me the e.l.f primer. The difference is that it helps keep the oils at bay just a little better.ĭisclaimer: I was gifted the e.l.f poreless matte primer by Instagram. It works just as great as the original by blurring the pores and creating a beautiful flawless base. The matte is a must for those with oily skin. It’s great for all skin types but I reckon those with dry skin will appreciate it more. The original is more hydrating and one I reach for during dryer seasons where I don’t mind a little bit of glow. These primers are both such good buys and the fact that they’re only $8 blows my mind. I don’t feel the need to blot or do any touch-ups on the matte side come the 6-hour mark, where I’m more likely to do so on the original poreless side. The matte side kept my oils at bay a little better than the original side. If you’re an oily girl like me and have your oils seeping through around your t-zone area then you can see how well a product holds up, especially in those areas. The difference in overall makeup wear isn’t huge. I’ve tested both on different sides of my face and could see the slight glow on the original poreless primer side. They perform the same in terms of blurring ones pores and creating a flawless canvas. These primers might feel the same on initial application but they do set a little differently. The original poreless primer is definitely more hydrating. I find that waiting for about a minute or more helps the product set much better and allows for better makeup application. It’s suggested to use a thin layer and to let it sit for 30 seconds before applying your makeup. The colour of both products dissipates once the product settles into the skin.Īs I stated above, both primers have quite a slip. The original poreless primer has a slight pink tint to it whereas the matte version is white. A light/thin consistency that has quite a slip when applied.
